On the morning of Tuesday, March 4, 2008, the world lost the co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons and who helped start the role play phenomenon. Most of the RPGs known today can be linked to the creation of Dungeons and Dragons, which was created in 1973 by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson.
I was fortunate enough to have learned the game in 1982 and have since passed the love of the game to my family and a number of friends.
To quote a CNET report "If not for his contributions, video games and geek culture would probably look much different than it does today. Beyond jokes about "d20s" and "saving throws," D&D's systems and mythos have spawned many excellent games, including Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment."
I have attached a link for the Google Search that I conducted when I learned of Gary's death, which includes sites where you can add your own tribute to Gary, as well as other links where the news of Gary's death was reported. May all that is Holy keep you, Gary. You will be missed, though your inspiration will live on.
