The biggest and strongest of the twisted monsters, twisted bears are even more agressive than their relatives. They live by hunting any creature weaker than themselves.
Twisted bears prefer to ambush opponents whenever possible. They normally send out scouts ahead who spy ahead and then return to report and bring up reinforcements. Twisted bear attacks are coordinated and their tactics sound, if not brilliant.

Twisted hyenas stand 7 1/2 feet tall with greyish green skin, a furry body, and a head like a hyena, with a reddish grey to dirty yellow mane. They have the lean body of the hyena, as well as the legs and tails of the same, though their arms tend more towards human. Nocturnal, these twisted creatures tend to think more with their stomachs than with their heads and prefer their prey to be 'intelligent' creatures as they tend to scream more. They do not like bright light, but it does them no harm.
Twisted hyenas like to attack when they have the advantage of numbers, using horde tactics and their greater strength to overwhelm and knock down opponents. They show little discipline when fighting unless they have a strong leader, at which time they can maintain ranks and fight as a unit. While they do not usually prepare traps, they do use ambushes and try to attack from a flanking or rear position. Twisted hyenas are ruled by the strongest member of the group, who uses fear, intimidation, and strength to remain in power.

Barbarians

A sea of warriors, each more fearsome than the last, their giant muscle bound bodies painted head to foot in blood and warpaint. I tell you Gilbert, there must have twenty, thirty, forty thousand of them. As far the eye could see and beyond.
I've seen nomads in my day, Gilbert, I tell you what. But never this many, and the way they moved. Oh Gilbert I tell you, they moved like a giant pack of hunting wolves, snarling and gnashing at the bit.
And then the cry started, way in the back, far beyond these tired old eyes could see.
But it started to grow...
Slowly at first...
And then louder, it was like the thunder had been stolen from the heavens themselves and put into the chests of these...these barbarians! It shook the very castle walls we intended to defend. And when our very skulls rattled inside of our helmets, a shimmering ray of light emerged from the rolling mountain of flesh and certain death.
I tell you Gilbert without a word of a lie, Bromsfield castle fell to a single man.
Do not scoff I tell no lies!!
|
Astride a giant, ashen steed he approached the castle's gate, not an officer or herald in sight. I tell you impressive does not describe this man, arms like a titan, hair like molten gold, and the eyes of a god. He looked at me I swear it, high upon the rampart I staked my hold, our eyes met for just a moment, I swear his eyes met every single man on that wall... And then they fell to General Liam himself, I saw the old dog shaking in his boots, and then that Barbarian raised a hand and said something in his odd, halting tongue and Liam froze...
Next thing I know we're shipping out that night, leaving everything behind, including several families, my own boy is still there as far as I know.
But I tell you Gilbert, had we not left when we did, we'd all be dead.
Of course it's true, every word of it!
Where do you think we're all headed now, out on a picnic maybe to the Barren North?!
Nay, we're off to war boy!
Pick up a sword and fight the horde!!

|
Orcs are aggressive humanoids that raid, pillage and battle other creatures. Orcs very in appearance but in general look like primitive humans with gray skin, coarse hair, stooped postures, low foreheads and porcine faces with prominent lower canines that resemble boar's tusks. They have lupine ears, their eyes are reddish and hey wear vivid colors that humans would consider unpleasant, such as blood red, mustard yellow, yellow-green and deep purple. Their equipment is dirty and unkempt.
When not actually fighting other creatures, orcs are usually planning raids or practicing their fighting skills. Most orcs encountered away from their homes are warriors and are familiar with the use of most weapons, preferring those that cause the most damage in the least amount of time. They enjoy attacking from concealment and setting up ambushes and they obey the rules of war only as long as it is convenient for them.
|
Orcs believe that to survive, they must conquer as much territory as possible, which puts them at odds with all intelligent creatures that live near them. They are constantly warring with or preparing to war with humanoids including other orc tribes. They can ally with other humanoids for a time but quickly rebel if not commanded by orcs. Their deities teach them that all other beings are inferior and that all worldly goods rightfully belong to orcs. Orc spellcasters are ambitious, and rivalries between them and warrior leaders sometimes tear a tribe apart.
Orc society is patriarchal. Females are prized possessions at best and chattel at worst. Male orcs pride themselves on the number of females they own, including human captives, and male children they sire, as well as their battle prowess, wealth, and the amount of territory they hold. They wear their battle scars proudly, and ritually scar themselves to mark significant achievements and turning points in their lives. An orc lair may be a cave, a series of wooden huts, a fort or even a large city built above or below ground. The chief orc deity is Gruumsh, a one-eyed god who tolerates no sign of peaceability among his people.

Goblins have flat faces, broad noses, pointed ears, wide mouths, and small, sharp fangs. Their foreheads slope back, and their eyes are usually dull and glazed, varying in color from red to yellow. They walk upright but their arms hand down almost to their knees. Goblins skin color ranges from yellow through any shade of orange to a deep red; usually all members of a single tribe are the same color. They wear clothing of dark leather, tending towards drab, soiled-looking colors.
Being bullied by bigger, stronger creatures has taught goblins to exploit what few advantages they have: sheer numbers and malicious ingenuity. The concept of a fair fight in their society. They favor ambushes, overwhelming odds, dirty tricks, and any other edge they can devise. Goblins have a poor grasp of strategy and are cowardly by nature, tend to flee the field if a battle turns against them. With proper supervision, though, they can implement reasonably complex plans, and in such circumstances, their numbers can be a deadly advantage.
|
Goblins are tribal. Their leaders are generally the biggest, strongest and sometimes even the smartest around. They have almost no concept of privacy, living and sleeping in large common areas; only the leaders live separately. Goblins usually survive by raiding and stealing (preferably from those cannot defend themselves easily), sneaking into lairs, villages and even towns by night to take what they can. They are not above waylaying travelers on the road or in the forests and stripping them of all possessions; up to and including the clothes on their back. Goblins sometimes capture slaves to perform hard labor in the tribes lair or camp.
These creatures live wherever they can, from dank caves to dismal ruins and their lairs are always smelly and filthy due to an utter lack of sanitation. Goblins often settle near civilized areas to raid for food, livestock, tools, weapons and supplies. Once a tribe has despoiled an locale, it simply packs up and moves on to the next convienient area. The chief goblin deity is Maglubiyet, who urges his worshipers to expand their numbers and overwhelm their competitors.

This big, bipedal creature is about one and a half times as tall as a human but very thin. It has long ungainly arms and legs. The legs end in great, three-toed feet, the arms in wide, powerful hands with sharpened claws. The hide is rubbery, and its hair is thick and ropy, and seems to writhe with its own energy
Trolls are horrid carnivores found in all climes, from artic wastelands to tropical jungles. Most creatures avoid these beasts, who know no fear and attack unceasingly when hungry.
Trolls walk upright but hunched forward with sagging shoulders. Their gait is uneven, and when they run, their arms dangle and drag along the ground. For all it seeming awkwardness, trolls are very agile.
A typical adult troll stands 9 feet tall and weighs 500 pounds. Females are slightly larger than males. A troll's rubbery hid is moss green, mottled green and gray, or putrid gray. The hair is usually greenish black or iron gray.
|
Trolls have no fear of death: They launch themselves into combat without hesitation, flailing wildly at the closest opponent. Even when confronted with fire, one of the few things that can truly kill them, they try to get around the flames and attack.
In our version of Trolls, there are only 2 things that can truly kill them, Fire or Acid. A troll who is 'killed' in a conventional manner will be heal at an astonishing rate and be back in the battle within a half hour and on loosing any limb, etc, will have it regenerate within half that time. Also, any piece that is hacked off from the troll will undergo a form of metamorphosis and regenerate into another troll, though at only the size of the original hacked off piece. However, if left alone, it will grow to the size of the "original" in a few hours.

|
Hobgoblins are a military breed: They live for war and believe strongly in strength and martial prowess as the most desirable qualities for individuals and leaders alike. A hobgoblin leader is likely to be the biggest and strongest in the group, maintaining authority by enforcing strict discipline. Hobgoblins are often leaders among tribes of goblins and orcs, whom they bully and treat like inferiors. Hobgoblin mercenaries sometimes enter the service of evil humanoids.

This hulking brute appears to be at least 9 feet tall. It has a thick hide covered in dark, warty bumps, it wears smelly skins and its hair is long, unkempt and greasy. Ogres are big, ugly, greedy creatures that live by raiding and scavenging. They join other monsters to prey on the weak and associate freely with ogre mages and trolls.
Lazy and bad-tempered, ogres solve problems by smashing them; what they can't smash, they either ignore or flee. Dwelling in tribal groups, ogres occupy and convenient location and eat nearly anything can catch, steal or slay. Ogres sometimes accept mercenary service with other humanoids, including humans.
|
Adult ogres stand 9 to 10 feet tall and weigh 600 to 650 pounds. Their skin color ranges from dull yellow to dull brown. Their clothing consists of poorly cured furs and hides, which adds to their natural repellent odor.
