RULES, GAME RANKS, AND MILITARY RANKS

Rules

  1. Admins have the final word on all things. If you can't respect that, you will not be permitted to continue RPing in AWoH. This is not in place for the admins to be "arbitrary", but is necessary for the smooth running of the rp. All Admin judgments require a minimum of three Admins agreeing on any given item, so there will always be as much fairness and consideration as possible. Also, please do not increase the rankings of your character prior to approval by the Admins.

    There are ONLY three "generals" in the Rebel army: Nara, Adrian and Reaver. Thus far, Adamire and Hell's Phoenix are the only ones within the Nobles.

  2. The Admins are doing their best to provide a stable, consistent environment in which to allow comfortable role-playing and for this storyline to continue forward. If you insist on being disruptive to that environment and/or introduce unplanned and unapproved events that affect the main storyline, the event will be ignored and you will be disciplined accordingly.

  3. There is a chain of command both out of character and in character. The highest-ranking characters/admins cannot handle all the traffic all the time, so please respect and use the chain of command.

    There will be a rank structure for nobility and for the military. When you choose one, stick with that and understand that it has little or no influence on the other rank structure, except as applicable through RP. Each player will have to EARN a rank higher than one. This takes RP time. This means that a beginning character MUST start at a lower level (IE: "private") and work their way up the rank structure in time. Your character has to learn information, just as you do in real life. The exception to the rule will be if a player has proven his abilities and there is a need for a "rank" to be filled.

    There will also be a rank structure for out of character things.

    Moderators are the people you go to first with any problems or questions, and if they cannot resolve the matter or answer the question, then they (not you( will bring it up to the Admins, who will consider the matter and respond as soon as possible. As stated in #2, their word is as law, and any answer they give will be final and applicable to all similar circumstances. Rankings in this rp start at 1 and end at 20, subject to limits and conditions explained elsewhere.

  4. There are several primary characters involved in AWoH and it is understandable that many characters will want to associate with them. However, understand that these people may have many things on their plate to deal with at any given time, so it would be very appreciated if you don't fix your attention on one or two characters, but instead interact with as many as possible. This is also the reason for the rank structure. If you follow the "chain of command" and rp with those within your ranks and with your immediate superior, we all should be able to have more than adequate rp. This does not mean that you will never have a chance to rp with the primary characters, but gives you more of an opportunity to rp in general.

  5. Anything you can do as an individual to assist the Admins is always welcome as long as it doesn't cross into Moderator/Admin territory. Helping people learn the rules, to grow in their RP ability, making positive suggestions and maintaining order, is entirely welcome - as is keeping an eye out for disruptive influences. If you see someone doing something that violates the rules or is at least questionable, feel free to contact a Moderator and advise them of the situation, and they will handle things from there. We hope to develop a working community of players and characters, and anything that can be done to help will benefit everyone.

  6. IC stays IC, OOC stays OOC.

    If you need to speak to someone regarding a personal matter, or intend to have a conversation that is not part of the storyline, take it to IMs. If you need to speak with an admin or mod regarding something consistent to the game, IM them. Please do not IM them in regards to a personal conversation as their attention and focus must be on the rp to keep things active and fair.

  7. You must stay within the storyline structure. If you have ideas for the storyline, you must speak with an administrator regarding the idea before implementing it. He/she will take it before a group of administrators, (a group of no less than 3), and they will either contact you for clarification or decide upon the idea. You will then be notified if it is accepted or not. Side stories that keep the main storyline in mind will usually be accepted by the Admins. We do not want to limit any person's creativity; we only intend to keep the storyline intact. In most cases, side storylines that include a general 'history' of your character would be appreciated.

  8. Para RP is a necessity in this storyline. However, since there will be potentially dozens of players, we would appreciate it if only a reasonable amount of para is used. ½ to 2 paragraphs should be sufficient to describe most things, and should give nearly everyone else a chance to participate in an event as well. While a number of you have large vocabularies, it is not necessary to use them while in the rp. There are a number of us that are not quite the linguists that some are. Please keep descriptions in understandable language, use spell check whenever possible, as well as punctuation.

    Also, there are rpers who use different (styles) of rp. PLEASE do not think that they have to change their style of rp to one in which you feel more comfortable! ALSO, it is up to the Administrators to speak with someone in regards to a "correction" in their post. These corrections will be for the following reasons:

    • If a player posts a time frame differing from the one currently in play, particularly if it will limit the posting player's ability to rp with another character.
    • If a player "harms" another player character without first gaining express permission from the player of that character.
    • If a player brings in a huge army without previously receiving express permission from the Administrators.

    We do NOT want to limit a players creativity in any way, so long as the players can remain within the rules of the rp.

  9. Combat will be based on the t1 system - para/ and as realistic as possible. Anime leaps are amusing and fun, but not terribly practical in a real combat situation. Since the storyline is based roughly on D&D 3rd and 3.5 edition, keep a more realistic medieval combat situation in mind when describing your actions. Actions must also be given in clear, concise phrases to make the actual attack or counter easily understood. God-Modding will not be accepted, and all those god-modding will be harshly punished with first a suspension, then by banning you from the rp.

  10. Every character has limitations.There are no gods, demigods, etc, running around in this storyline. Every character is mortal, can be killed, and if a valid attack is made and unsuccessfully defended against, it is expected that every player will own up to it and take the hit. Every effort will be made to save any wounded character, but if death should occur, then so be it.

    This rule in particular will be enforced - god-moding in any form is against everything this RP is about and will be rejected out of hand, no arguments, questions, or appeals. Those caught god-moding in rp will be ignored and are subject to being evicted from the game, either temporarily or permanently. While we will not ban creatures like dragons/vamps and undead, such creatures will be accepted ONLY on the approval of the admins and ONLY when it is proven that the player will play them realistically and without any form of god/moding. Abilities of said creatures MUST also be discussed with the admins prior to being brought into the rp. These creatures cannot be 'non-killable'. Some vulnerability must exist.These must also be discussed with the admins before bringing the chara into play. This does not mean that all the players will know the vulnerabilities. If they wish to know, they will have to find out via risking their charas to learn. The admins can reject any type of character that they feel will be unsuitable for the continuing good of the storyline.

  11. Recruiting: While we do not discourage players to recruit other players, the new player must be interviewed by 2 or more admins before they will be accepted. If they are accepted, they must agree to abide by WoH's rules and will be given a trial period of one month. If they prove that they cannot abide by the rules, stay in the storyline or are disruptive to the rp, they will be rejected from being a permanent member of the rp and will not be invited to return.

  12. There will be NO racial slurs made against any players. Nor will there be discrimination based on gender, political affiliations or religion. We are here to enjoy ourselves, not to promote personal beliefs and ethics. If you do not abide by this, you will automatically be ejected from the game and ignored by those involved in the game.

  13. IF you do not advise us that you are not going to be at an rp session and are in the midst of an rp with someone, your char can be NPC'd by the person that you are rping with. Your character cannot be dangerously harmed nor killed while being npc'd, but that does not mean they cannot be harmed at all, or put to sleep, or other temporary effects that the one NPCing your character is capable of doing. However, the limits still apply, and adjunct to this is that no major, important property of the character being NPC'd can be destroyed either. Clothing, replaceable weapons, things of that sort can be destroyed as needed, but if it required Admin approval to gain, it is immune to being destroyed in NPC. This applies to equipment, mounts, homes, things of that nature. And on a final note, the NPCing cannot, under any circumstances, significantly influence or conflict with the storyline.

  14. The relevant information for participating in "A War of Honor" is posted in appropriate locations on the boards, see to it that you look at all the available info before attempting to enter the game or you will have to deal with the consequences of your deliberate ignorance, and there will be little sympathy from the Admins if trouble should result from that ignorance.

Game Ranks

  • Primary Class - full rank
  • Second Class - full rank -2 max
  • Third Class - full rank - 4 max
  • Fourth Class - full rank -6 max
  • Fifth Class - full rank -8 max
  • Ranks available:

    Mage
    Warrior
    Rogues
    Psychic
    Healer
    Supernatural (within guidelines)

    Example focus disciplines:

    Warrior:

    Any kind of physical combat falls within this category - fighters, assassins, etc. If it involves using physical force to cause harm, it's in this class.

    • Unarmed
    • Assassination
    • Defensive (primarily parrying and shield use)
    • Offensive (primarily attacking, minimal defense)
    • Integrated (extensive use in both shield and weapon use, at a disadvantage without both.)

    Sub-categories:

    •

      Rogue:

      The stealthy, the quick, the clever, rogues rarely fight, focusing on using their wits to deal with the world. They are usually capable of protecting themselves in combat, but they are not nearly as skilled as a warrior.

    •

      Assassins and Ninja:

      (do some research before trying to argue. this)

    •     Bards:

      (who don't always play a lute and/or sing – jugglers, dancers and circus performers fit into this category as well.)

    Mage:

    Anything that can be considered 'magic' falls into this class, except healers. Most mages study and learn various spells, incantations, rituals and such, to manipulate energies outside themselves in order to create various effects. Please be aware that any use of magic will cost the character in energy.<

    •     Vivimancy (life): Ability to alter and control life itself, often attributed to Druids but not restricted to them alone.

    •      Necromancy: Ability to raise and communicate with the dead.

    •      Elemental (each type is a separate discipline): Magic that summons and controls a specific element.

    •      Mind-affecting: Magic that holds sway over the mind, emotions, etc.

    •      Illusion: Though not 'real', illusion can be as effective as reality.

    •      War-mage (: using magic in combat, too specialized to cast spells that require more than a moment's time)

    •     Priests: Those who are not devoted only to healing.

    • Sub-Categories:

      Psychic:

      Psychics use the power of their own minds to affect the world around them. In general this is not only faster than magic because it becomes instinctual, but requires an entirely different set of circumstances and overall less energy to use, as well as less studying and more meditation, introspection, and inspiration. However, what it gains in speed and eventual ease of use, it loses in miraculous effects. Magic is able to defy the laws of reality outright, while psychic powers 'go with the flow', producing amazing results but rarely, except at incredibly high ranks, doing anything world-shaking. Note: The power categories are roughly-based on the d20 D&D 3.5 system.

      (Example:

      * Kinetic:

      These powers create effects that have influence in the external physical realm and physical energy.

      Telekinesis -

      Using psychic energy to create a physical force that can cut, lift, tear, or break a physical, material object, much as if hands or tools were being used.)

      * Telepathic:

      These powers can only interact with, or be wieded purely by a mind, though in potentially powerful ways (telepathy, empathy, psychic invisibility or illusion, etc.)

      * Metabolic:

      These powers affect the body, notably the psychic's and, to a limited extent, other creatures- bodies.

      *Transportive:

      These powers affect or create movement through time and space (teleportation, psionic flight, etc).

      * Sentient Powers

      that allow extranormal perceptions and influencing fate to a limited degree (clairvoyance, precognition).

      * Creative/shaper:

      Powers that allow the wielder to create objects, creatures, or some form of matter on the physical and astral planes.

      Healer:

      These characters, through various means, have the power to heal living things. This can be (solely or a combination of) a gift of the gods, magical in nature, psychic, minor alchemy or even merely extraordinary talent with herbs, poultices, and helping the body heal itself. Whatever the explanation, this class provides an important service - getting the wounded back to health, and often also serve as counsellors - healing the mind as well as the body.

          *Healing: (physical damage)

          *Healing:(mental damage)

          * Purification: (diseases, curses/harmful magic, etc)

          * Templar: (wielding healing powers in combat against undead/demons, and using healing knowledge to cause harm)

      Supernatural::

      * Elves, dwarves, gnomes, orcs, halflings, plane-touched

      * Angels/demons (or part-breeds of such kinds, at least, with very rare exceptions of full-breeds)

      *Intelligent undead (very rare)

      * Anything else that isn't specifically human

      Note: In general, it is believed that humans can breed with other demihumans, and several other supernatural creatures can breed with humans, but try not to get carried away - a half#45;demon wouldn't be too out of place, but a quarter-elf, quarter-demon, half-dragon vampire isn't likely to get approval of any kind, and is just silly in this writer's opinion. Also - no gods, demigods, etc.Dragons and vampires can only be played with the express permission of an Admin. Mortals and quasi-mortals only.

      Anything that can't be killed, or could kill hundreds of thousands with a thought, can't be played. Period.
